Space Chair

ADVANCED SPATIAL CONCEPTS

ISAE-SUPAERO, Airbus and Ariane Group have created the Advanced Space Concepts Chair. This Chair will enable the development of the study of future space concepts from a systems and architecture perspective through research and teaching projects that will be developed within the framework of a Space Advanced Concepts laboratory (SAC LAB).

THEMES DEVELOPED IN THE SAC LAB

The projects carried out within the SAC Lab will rely on various areas of expertise: system engineering and architecture, mission analysis and optimization, human factors, and robotics. Examples of integrated themes:

  • In-orbit servicing for telecommunications satellites
  • In-space structural assembly – 3D printing
  • Active Debris Removal
  • Architecture of manned space stations (Moon and Mars)
  • Space weather
  • Architecture of new space transport systems (reuse, concepts integrating innovative space propulsion systems)

THE FIRST STEP

The missions of the SAC LAB manager have been defined and documented in a job description for recruitment in 2018. In parallel with the PIE (Project Engineering and Entrepreneurship) and ITP (Integrated Team Project) student projects carried out respectively as part of the 3rd year of the SUPAERO engineering cycle and the specialized Master's program TAS ASTRO, projects aligned with the themes of the Chair will be proposed starting from the academic year 2017-2018.

The launch of the Chair was marked by an event organized on Thursday, December 14, 2017, at ISAE-SUPAERO with the sponsors.
